Guide on Premium Human Hair Wigs
How Are Human Hair Wigs Made?
If you're interested in purchasing a human hair wig, you may want to know how they're made and which type best suits your lifestyle.
Categories of Human Hair Wigs
Human hair wigs are divided into three categories.
Virgin Hair
Virgin hair is human hair that's never been dyed or chemically treated.
Remy Hair
Remy hair is also 100% human hair, but it has the cuticle in the same direction, and it may be dyed or color-treated hair.
100% Human Hair
This is simply a term for any hair that has grown on a human head. This does not indicate how it has been treated, colored, or how it was retrieved.
Human Hair Wig Construction
How the wig is constructed is another consideration when choosing a beautiful natural hair wig.
Wefted Wig Caps
Strips of hair, called wefts, are woven together with nylon thread. They're sewn by hand or machine, forming a crosshatch stitch pattern that's visible on the underside of the cap.
Hand-tied Wigs
Each single strand of hair is hand tied, or knotted, onto the mesh cap using a crochet-style tool. While the most labor-intensive process, taking up to a month to complete, hand-tied wigs also provide the most natural look and movement.
Monofilament
Monofilament wigs utilize wefted and hand-tied stitching styles. The hand-knotted portion is sewn into the flesh-toned lace panel on the top of the wig allowing or a natural looking scalp and allows multidirectional parting.
Lace Front
Lace front is the front part of the mesh cap, providing a natural appearance to the hairline.
Thin Skin Inserts
Natural hair is sewn into the front silicone thin skin insert of the mesh cap, giving the hair a natural scalp appearance.
Are Human Hair Wigs Worth the Price?
Human hair wigs do cost significantly more than their synthetic counterparts. They're an investment that provides many benefits:
- Longevity: With proper care, such as handwashing in lukewarm water, and proper conditioning, human hair wigs can last 3-5 years. By comparison, synthetic wigs have a shelf life of approximately 1 year with proper care.
- Versatility: Because they're made with human hair, these wigs can be straightened or styled just like your natural hair.
- Breathability: Human hair is more breathable and allows for better air circulation than their synthetic hair counterparts.

Make sure that if you are buying a wig online you know that that product is high quality and from a trusted source. Unfortunately, there are many disreputable wig companies that you need to watch out for. One tip, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
There are several key factors to consider when buying quality human hair online:
- Hair origin
- Manufacturing procedure
- Processing and styling
- Customer support
- Return policy
- Payment security
The Final Process
The last step is finding the type of cap design, hair style, and length that works best for you.
